SubMatch is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how your information is handled when you use the SubMatch browser extension.
SubMatch does not collect, store, or share any personal data. All information generated while using SubMatch — including saved words, flashcard progress, and review history — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device.
No data is ever sent to our servers or any third party.
When you click on a subtitle word, SubMatch sends that single word and its surrounding sentence to the Google Translate API (a free, public endpoint) to retrieve a translation. This request is made directly from your browser to Google's servers.
SubMatch requests the following browser permissions, each used only for its stated purpose:
SubMatch does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or log in. There is no user identity associated with your data.
SubMatch uses the Google Translate public API for word translation. No other third-party services, analytics tools, or advertising networks are used.
SubMatch does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected at all, SubMatch is safe for use by all ages.
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
